Poison The Well Due For Reissue on Rise Records
Every few years you will hear a band that will point your ears towards a new musical direction. I can’t even remember who they were supporting when I first saw Poison The Well in the early 00’s such was the impact of their live show. One song in particular blew me away and I scurried off to have a chat with the band at the merch desk where I asked them what song it was. They obviously looked at me slightly perplexed and even my Beavis and Butthead style ‘It’s the one that goes, duh-duh-dur-dur-dur-durh and then slows down in the middle’ didn’t shed any light on the mystery or score me any cool points. They advised that I purchased both CD’s to be on the safe side. I did this and they promptly scribbled over one of them. The song in question was ‘Slice Paper Wrists’ and I was £20 lighter. But, from that day forward I was listening to an ever widening circle of new music and for that I can thank Poison The Well.
Skip forward 10 years and my I can look forward to purchasing a non graffiti-ed disc…
Rise Records and Poison the Well are proud to announce the re-release
of “The Opposite of December” and “Tear From The Red”. These 2 classic
albums (19 songs total) have been out of print for years and will finally
get a proper re-release this summer which will include limited edition
double 12” gatefold vinyl, deluxe CD and low-priced digital album. Both
albums will be re-mastered as well.
Poison The Well has influenced a generation of bands including Dillinger
Escape Plan, Of Mice & Men, Thrice, Thursday & others. Guitar World
Magazine cited “The Opposite of December” as, “one of the greatest
hardcore albums of all time”.
Poison the Well has gone on to sell over 300,000 albums in the U.S. and
over the years has appeared on both the Vans Warped Tour and the Take
Action Tour and has toured with the likes of Deftones, Thrice, Glassjaw,
Cursive, Thursday, Hatebreed, The International Noise Conspiracy, Dance
Gavin Dance, Killswitch Engage and more.
And if you can remember / tell me who Poison The Well were supporting back in 2002 / 2003 in the UK I will be able to sleep tonight. Cheers….
